Choosing Solar Panels And An Inverter

The system size in kilowatts refers to the total rated power of the panels. The inverter converts that power into electricity your home can use. It has its own size rating, which your quote should list.
For example, 6.6kW of panels may suit an inverter with a smaller rating. We check the equipment limits and network rules before choosing the pairing.
Is Your Roof Suitable For Solar Panels?
We check your roof’s condition, sunny areas and available space. Trees, nearby buildings and roof features can shade panels or limit where we can fit them.
North-facing panels tend to receive more sunlight across the day. East-facing panels generate in the morning. West-facing panels can extend generation into the afternoon. We consider the hours you use power when planning the layout.

Solar Rebates And Incentives In NSW
You may qualify for support towards solar or batteries in New South Wales. We can help you check which rebate pathways apply to your plans.
Federal Rooftop Solar Discount
The Australian Government offers support through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Qualifying solar systems can create Small-scale Technology Certificates, or STCs.
You can give a registered agent the right to create these certificates in return for an upfront discount. The amount depends on the system, location, installation date and certificate value.

NSW Home Energy Saver
The NSW Government has opened Home Energy Saver loan applications. Eligible households can borrow up to $15,000 with zero interest for approved upgrades.
The program’s finance providers assess applications, and approved suppliers carry out the work. You must repay the loan and meet the conditions.
As at 7 October 2026, the government lists its separate discount applications as coming soon. That discount offers up to $4,000 towards eligible upgrades. Check Home Energy Saver for who can apply, participating providers and application status.
Battery Incentives
Eligible battery installations may qualify for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. NSW offers a separate incentive for joining an eligible virtual power plant, or VPP.
In a VPP, a provider can use some of your stored power under an agreed contract. Check the terms for battery access and payments. The former NSW battery installation discount has closed.

Your electricity network sets the rules for connecting solar. Sydney homes may fall within the Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy network, depending on the address. Check your bill or ask us to help identify your network.
